Chosen Architect

Cody, otherwise known as / content creator ChosenArchitect, has been a gaming enthusiast for over 15 years. He joined Discord in 2016 and built his server alongside his growing online following over the years.

A Place to Meet and Interact

Cody has been using Discord ever since finding out it was the best option for voice chatting in 2016. His online following continued to grow as he posted videos and live streams, and soon he realized he needed somewhere for his fans to go!

”I knew that my little part of the internet needed a place to communicate. My community now covers a large part of the Modded Minecraft community and gives them a space to chat and receive help with questions everyday.”

As a long-time Discord server owner, Cody knows the value of nurturing an audience into a community.

“Building an audience is just seeing numbers go up on a social media post. With a Discord community you get to interact with each and every one of the people that join, in one way or another.”

A Complement to Content

Cody fits Discord into his broader content and platform strategy by using Discord to ”promote, communicate, and build a long-term relationship with my audience that’s more personal than just another social media post.”

Since Cody’s community already considers his Discord server the home for all his content, posts to the server that promote off-Discord content are directly sent to his most engaged fans.

Engaging with communities as a sounding board or focus group with brainstorming or testing new ideas has proven to be valuable for creators like Cody on Discord. Cody says, “[Discord is] one of the best ways to get to know what your community interests are. It provides a one-on-one experience that they really can't get anywhere else.”

Sharing the News

Promoting his Discord server in videos has been most successful for Cody, but don’t underestimate the power of a word-of-mouth recommendation!

“I promote my Discord server at the end of every YouTube video I post. I choose the times when I am expecting a larger number of viewers than normal. In the long-term, a Discord community will provide you with a strong foundation of community members that will [encourage] others to come.”

Final Thoughts

Your Discord can serve as a space for fans to connect on a new level, transforming your audience into a community. Serving as a complement to your content, your community can provide a new level of insight and understanding about your most loyal fans. Promotion is a part of growing your server, but it doesn’t have to be done by you alone! By focusing on creating a space where people feel welcome, your members will serve as ambassadors and help promote your community to their network!

A major round of applause to Cody for sharing this wisdom with us! If you want to join Chose Architect and support the community, you can join here.
