Lindsey Stirling is a violinist, songwriter, and dancer. She rose to fame with viral videos and has built a community of loyal followers who have supported her for over 10 years.
For Lindsey, Discord allows her to get to know the fans who have supported her for a decade in brand new ways.
“My community has been with me and grown since the very beginning of my career. Being on Discord has given me the opportunity to find a new way to learn about those coming to my shows, to hear what their favorite merch is, and most importantly: to bring them along on my musical journey.”
Lindsey uses her server as the central hub for her fanbase to come together to and experience content together. To her, building community means creating an opportunity for individuals to feel like they’re part of something.
“I see how involved my community feels on Discord not just through shared content, but through the conversations they have with each other and the sense of shared space with each other. Building a community has allowed me to develop my relationship with my fans and get to know more about them.”
When creating content for her server members, Lindsey thinks about how she can grow interest not just about her content itself, but also how she can foster connection between members.
“I am a big proponent of sparking conversation through content, and I look to that when creating. I am always thinking of new ways to co-create with my fans and have some exciting experiences in the works for us to collaborate together.”
Lindsey says Discord provides an amazing interactive and engaging opportunity to get to know your fans, and her advice for other creators thinking about their strategy for Discord is to be yourself.
“When it comes to creating a server and building a content strategy, you need to trust your unique vision for your community and how you would like to engage with those invested in who you are and your art. I love to invest in my community simply because they invest in me.”
