Worthy of a Plaque: Nameplates Land in the Shop

We’ve said it before, we’ll say it again: y’all really love customizing your profiles on Discord.

You’ve all made some impressive, creative, and sometimes wild profile setups over the years — you might have a perfectly-framed avatar or masterfully-written bio, or maybe you collect Avatar Decorations or Profile Effects from the Shop. Perhaps you go the extra mile and join Nitro to add splashes of profile colors, or set up a unique profile for each server you’re in. You might even do all of the above. Crazy. 

Today, we’re showing off a brand new way to express yourself: Nameplates! Nameplates reach beyond the confines of your Discord profile and add a pop of personality to how your display name is shown wherever you’re listed. You can purchase them on the desktop app, and they’ll be visible to everyone on both desktop and mobile! 

How do you set ‘em up? Where are they shown? What do they even LOOK like? Step up to the plate and come find out! 

Stand Out in Your Conversations with Nameplates

Nameplates are the newest way to show up how you want on Discord. They’re available to purchase in the Shop, the same place where Avatar Decorations and Profile Effects live. (They’re all great neighbors really.) 

When you equip a Nameplate, it’ll be visible behind your display name in server member lists and when someone hovers over your name in their DM list, letting you stand out in more of your favorite Discord hangout spots. 

Your new Nameplate will even be displayed on your User Settings bar, letting you kick back and admire it, knowing your friends are likely also basking in awe right now. 

At launch, we’ll have eight different options inspired by fan favorite Shop collections available to purchase, including Nameplates with Cyberpunk, Galaxy, and Anime vibes: 

You can preview any Nameplate in the Shop before you buy it, so try ‘em all out and see which matches your current profile best or if one of them just really really calls to you.
